Dr. Sheila Abreu – Pharmacist, graduated from the Pharmacy College of UFMG, specialized in industrial pharmacy. She is director of Pharmanectar (www.pharmanectar.com.br) and Produtos Ideal Ltda. (www.idealcosmeticos.com.br). She has vast experience in pharmaceutical production and dispensation of phytotherapeutic and apitherapeutic products and their use in odontology. Sheila is an ISO 9001, GMP e HACCP auditor and is responsible for R&D at Pharmanectar. She is also in charge of lab operations, clinical assistance and compounding at Pharmanectar’s pharmacy.

Dr. Abreu will speak about propolis presentations used in odontology .

Prof. Niraldo Paulino Ph.D. is Pharmacist and Biochemist, with an M.S. and a doctorate in the pharmacology of natural products from UFSC. He teaches and conducts research at UNIBAVE – SC (http://www.febave.org.br/). He is the author of various international scientific publications on propolis, apitherapy and phytotherapy. He has already spoken at more than 120 symposia and conferences on the subject all over the world. His main scientific interests are the utilization of propolis and herbs in experiments on the intra-cellular signaling mechanisms related to anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antitumoral activities..

Prof. Paulino will speak on the pharmacology of propolis in odontology: Citotoxicity, antinflammatory action, immune-modulation, analgesic activity, antioxidants, scarring and bactericides.

Prof. Yong Kun Park, M.D. Ph.D. Pathologist and Biochemist, professor at the Department of Food Engineering of UNICAMP in Campinas – Brasil (http://www.fea.unicamp.br). He is a visiting researcher at various international research centers, such as Rochester University, North Carolina University, the CDC, etc. He has supervised many doctorate theses on propolis, including some applied to odontology that resulted in great scientific advances and patents.

Professor Park will speak about his work with different types of Brazilian Propolis and their applications for the control of S. mutans and bacterial plaque

Prof. Vagner R. Santos Ph.D. is a dentist and vice-director of the Department of Odontology at UFMG – Federal University of Minas Gerais State (http://www.odonto.ufmg.br/odonto/site%2004/index.htm). He has a Doctorate in pathologic anatomy. He is the author of important scientific publications on the use of propolis and phytotherapeuticals in odontology. He has a special interest in clinical trials on the use of propolis and natural molecules which could be effective, affordable and safe for the public. Prof. Santos has a great teaching style and is very sought after as an international speaker.

Prof. Santos will speak about the different clinical and surgical applications of propolis in the everyday practice of odontology..

Prof. Marcos Luciano Bruschi Ph.D. is a pharmacist and has an MS in pharmaceutical sciences from the pharmaceutical Department of Araraquara – UNESP. He has a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at USP – Ribeirao Preto – Brasil and the School of Pharmacy – Queen’s University of Belfast (Northern Ireland - United Kingdom. He teaches and conducts research at the Parana State University in Maringá – UEM (PR). He is the author of scientific publications on propolis and a propolis slow release system. Currently, he works on the development and characterization of micro-particle release systems for the treatment of periodontal disease.

Prof. Bruschi will speak about the use of a gelatinous propolis micro-particle system for the treatment of periodontal disease.
