This variety was sent to research centers in Japan, in order to have its nutritional potential assessed. Surprisingly, it was found that besides being an excellent food, this new mushroom had awesome medicinal properties, especially that of an immunostimulant drug.
In Japan, this Brazilian mushroom became known as “Himmematsutake”, and the literal translation of that idiomatic expression is one that denotes royalty: “The Queen's Mushroom.” Since then, hundreds of research studies have been performed in order to evaluate its nutritional and/or
